Korean Beauty Products Review [Innisfree]

Everyone is heading to South Korea to visit locations seen in our favourite Korean Dramas, dreamily wandering around in high hopes of meeting a cute guy we can call our "Oppa." We are so smitten by Lee Min Ho, Gong Yoo, Song Joong Ki, Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Woo Bin and many more! We fell in love with their looks, perfect smile, romantic gestures and good humor. But what does it take for these "oppas" to like us back?

Aside from the increasing number of KDrama and KPop fans, there is also a remarkable sales growth in most South Korean products. As a matter of fact, the world is now so into discovering the fascinating beauty and skin care benefits of Korean beauty products too. From the Laneige lipstick used by Kim Bok Joo in Weightlifting Fairy to the social media frenzy over peel off masks and bubble face masks, we can't deny KDrama and KPop's huge impact on the market and their influence to customer buying behavior. I, myself, have tried Korean beauty products and here are my six favourites from Innisfree:

No Sebum Mineral Powder in limited edition emoji packaging
No Sebum Mineral Powdwer. Description says it absorbs excess sebum and oil to prevent makeup from becoming patchy, while correcting dull skin tone to keep the skin bright and radiant all day. But what is a sebum anyway? Answer: Sebaceous glands are microscopic exocrine glands in the skin that secrete an oily or waxy matter, called sebum, to lubricate and waterproof the skin. [see source: wikipedia]
Why I like it: On lazy days when I don't feel like wearing heavy makeup, I put on my moisturizer, sunscreen with spf50 and this mineral powder for a nice finish. It's like putting on baby powder, it keeps my face from looking oily and makes it look naturally good. No need for foundation!

It's real squeeze mask in Green Tea and Aloe Vera
It's Real Squeeze Face Masks. Product description says it hydrates and recharges skin [...]Three-layered sheet for longer moisturizing and great adherence. Using these products will leave skin feeling smooth, supple, and deeply hydrated.
Why I like it: It comes in different packs and fruit or petal extracts. They have Green Tea, Aloe Vera, Cucumber, Acai Berry, Rose, Rice, Blackberry, Strawberry, Lemon, Pomegranate, etc. But my favorite is It's Real Squeeze face mask sheet in Manuka Honey. It leaves my face feeling so hydrated! I use it on nights when my face feels dry or when I want to rid of my haggard look.

Apple seed lip & eye makeup remover
Apple seed eye and lip makeup remover. The description says, "Refreshingly and cleanly removes lip and eye makeup without leaving the skin greasy or oily. Apple seed oil rich in moisture and nutrients protects delicate skin from any irritation after point makeup removal. Formulation with 5-Free system - Free of 5 harmful additives such as mineral oil, synthetic colorants, animal ingredients, sulfate-based surfactants and fragrance."
Why I like it: We have thinner skin around the eyes and lips, that's why we need a more delicate makeup remover for these areas. Some makeup remover that I've tried are harsh on the skin, making my skin feel prickly and red. But this product made removing eye makeup an ease, I highly recommend this.

Olive oil real cleansing tissue 30 sheets
Olive Oil real cleansing wipes. Product description says, "A deep-hydration cleansing tissue made with organic golden olives. Contains antioxidants, olives, and vitamins. Cleanses and moisturizes with just a wipe."
Why I like it: I now realized that oil-based makeup remover is more effective than the others. After a long, tiring day.. all we wanted to do is remove our makeup immediately and wash our face. But, I don't recommend using makeup remover wipes all the time. You must always follow a thorough face cleansing routine every night.

Eco fruit lip tint in Cherry shade
Eco fruit lip tint. Product description says it contains raspberry extract giving the lips a bright, lively color. Free from: talc, silicon, and mineral oil. Apply some tint to the tip and gently tap the inside of your lips.
Why I like it: One can easily recognize how Koreans put lipstick. It's like a gradient style, a light shade on the outer lip and darker shade on the inner lip. It's like the natural lip tint you get from drinking red wine or eating a bunch of cherries. Innisfree Eco Fruit Lip Tint is the perfect lip tint for it! I like it because it's easy to use once you master the art of putting lippie the Korean way. Plus you can taste the cherry flavor! I sometimes dab it on my cheek too, spread it out with my fingers and wait for it to dry. It looks so natural!

Jeju volcanic blackout out balm - minimizing pores

Jeju Volcanic Blackhead out Balm. Product description says it clears the nose free of blackheads. The balm melts as you roll it onto the skin, and dissolves the blackheads, clearing your skin. [...] Before cleansing, apply an appropriate amount onto where blackheads are concentrated. Use fingertips to massage for 3~5 minutes and use cleansing foam or lukewarm water to rinse off afterwards.
Why I like it: Well, instead of using blackhead strip -that may also be damaging your skin and is making the pores even bigger- Innisfree blackhead out balm dissolves the blackheads and minimizes the pores. While you can't always use removing strips for  those irritating blackheads, you can use this balm on a daily basis. I highly recommend this, please be patient for the result.

Here is a bonus video from Innisfree featuring my oppa and Innisfree brand ambassador Lee Min Ho!!!

While we all know that people have different skin types, I swear by these Innisfree products and I highly recommend these because it totally worked for me. And I know the feeling of all die-hard fans of KDrama and KPop groups.. I would probably also do anything - even use Korean beauty products- to look a bit like Park Shin-Hye or Song Hye Kyo or Jun Ji Hyun or Lee Sung Kyung!!! BTW, my boyfriend says I could pass as Shin Min-a!! Haha! Please!!

Jack Of All Trades

Yes it's true, we all have hidden talents! And sometimes, some circumstances in life make us reveal them to the world -one at a time or all at once. Join me in this journey as I enter the ever competitive world of beauty and makeup with these chosen primary weapons. *blows imaginary gun*

Real Techniques Base Brushes. This is my first set of brushes ever! Real Techniques is owned by Sam and Nic Chapman -they are sisters, professional makeup artists, and the duo behind a top Youtube channel. The function of this set is for complete coverage of base makeup. The core collection of the coverage essentials include:

From top to bottom | Photo by  © www.lvlygrey.com
(1) Buffing brush - UltraPlush bristles ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation.
(2) Detailer brush - precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long lasting shape and definition.
(3) Pointed foundation brush - unique cut for use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage.
(4) Contour brush - delicately applies highlighter to the cheekbones for sheer, soft-focus contour.

I am so loving #RealTechniques brushes at the moment, and I can't wait to get my hands on the two other sets for the eyes and for finish. Real Techniques brushes have a reasonable price that is perfect for budding makeup artists like me.

NYX soft matte lip cream minis | Instagram @lvlygrey
NYX soft matte lip cream minis. These lippies may be little and cute but they are also sure to give you a nice soft matte finish when applied to your lips. The shades from the photo above include (1) Moscow; (2) Copenhagen; (3) Vancouver; (4) Nyx liquid suede - Foul Mouth; (5)Nyx liquid suede - Oh, Put It OnAll dark shades, suits me! Shelf lifeNyx liquid suede - six monthsNyx soft matte lip cream - eighteen months.

Another thing I like about NYX lippies is the fact that it doesn't make your lips feel like a desert, because of its cream base. You might just have to re-apply after every meal or after every heavy smooch!

L.A. Colors - 5 Color Matte Eyeshadow | Freebie from @classy.colours
L.A. Colors Matte Eyeshadow. I got this as a freebie from one of my trusted online shops, go check them out on Facebook and Instagram. I would have to rate L.A. Colors Matte Eyeshadow's pigment a 2.5/5. Because of the need to apply more product to see it's true color or shade. Hence this, I use this palette for a natural-looking "no-makeup" makeup look. Sabi nga nila, "A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor." So once or twice or even thrice in a makeup artist's career, he will use products that will challenge his skills and strategy. Wow! I'm imagining a reality show similar to Master Chef but with a twist, and I will call it Master Makeup Artist or Makeup Diva! Hahaha!

Time for swatch-ing! Love these shades so much!
I got excited swatch-ing these lippies! Here are some of my looks using NYX lippies: Vancouver, Copenhagen and Oh, Put It On. You can visit my Instagram for more photos. Follow me at @lvlygrey! My dream is to try to swatch more lippies in the future and collect limited edition items. I am currently in love with MAC matte lipsticks and Kylie liquid lipsticks. I also like combining shades for a more fierce or a more toned-down look. Maybe soon I'll try lip liners for achieving the perfect lip shapes!

Start of a growing collection | Photo by www.lvlygrey.com
My mission is to help those who can't afford expensive hair and makeup services. Nothing in life is free of course, I have to earn a living. But I also want to be the fairy godmother (with budget-friendly hair and makeup services) like the one from Cinderella. It is prom season here in the Philippines and I want to make some young girl's dream to attend the ball all dolled up, full of confidence, positive vibes and encouragement. I also don't mean to compete with any of my favorite makeup artists here, they are all super talented! Like my friends and idols, #CJCuisonGlamTeam - Ms CJ, Mommy Ryan and Ms Carlos! I've been their client too and they are the best here. Let us make this world a beautiful place by loving and supporting each other. I have yet to learn a lot and I'm not even sure if I'd pursue makeup artistry as my main bread and butter, I'm a jack of all trades and my attention span is short. So who knows? I'm just happy to add this to the list of skills that I can confidently say I can do.
So thank you for reading this post and remember,
JUST DREAM BIG!
